Administration‎ > ‎

Fall, 2011

The first months of the 2011-12 school year have already flown by and students have settled into the year.  Classrooms are running smoothly and our practices to support and promote positive behaviors are gaining momentum.  Each class engages in Morning Meeting daily.  At our recent in service training, we discussed the value of the four components of Morning Meeting: Greeting, Sharing, Activity and Morning Message.  These components are an opportunity to help students build the skills of Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy and Self Control that will help them be successful throughout their school days and beyond.  This is exciting work.

I am happy to be the Principal of Monkton Central School.  I began my career in education as a para professional supporting individualized education services as well as speech and language in Salisbury, Vermont.  I then taught preschool in Charlotte before moving to the Williston School District where I taught Kindergarten through third and fourth grades for 16 years.   I have a Bachelor’s Degree in philosophy, a Master’s Degree in Education, an Administrator’s license, and I am a graduate of the Snelling Vermont School Leadership Project.

My interest in the work of public schools is rooted in my intention to help students and teachers be the best citizens we can be as we to promote a just,  equitable and sustainable society.
